Jay hosts the afternoon show on WBACH, along with being the station's Production Director. He hails from Aroostook County, where he began his radio career in the mid '70s. "It was a great training ground and still a fun place to go back and visit".
In 1981, Jay accepted an offer to move to Bangor and be part of the team at what was then WPBC, where he hosted the afternoon show for quite a number of years. His interest in politics led him into the world of Talk Radio in Bangor for a few years, before an offer came along to move to the coast. In this case, it was to Rockland's 106.9, which later became part of WBACH.
Jay admits that he really didn't get involved with classical music until a few years ago, but has become a real fan of it. He's also an accomplished drummer (having toured Europe with a band in the '70s) and keyboardist in the fields of jazz and rock. Currently, you might catch him in the Portland area playing keys in various bands.
He also keeps busy with a number of hobbies including digital photography and exploring the Internet. Summer days often find him exploring the coast of Maine on his motorcycle.
