Laurena Gilbert is our weeknight host on WBACH, and producer/host of our daily "Arts Preview" feature.  In addition, she produces many of the sponsor announcements which are heard on WBACH.  Known to friends as "Reeny," she grew up in a singing family:  Her mom was a classically trained pianist and her dad, a ham radio operator.  So, she says "classical radio was a natural for me.” She began her career in classical music radio at a Rockland station in 1992, and came back to the same studios several years later when that station became part of WBACH's network (our 106.9 Midcoast signal).  Reeny plays the piano, grows lots of flowers and vegetables during the summer and loves to cook for friends. She’s an alto with the Penobscot Bay Singers, a 40 voice choral group in Belfast, and her favorite composer is Richard Strauss. “When I hear his music," says Reeny, "I feel as though I am flying!”
